The latest issue of the World Customs Journal (Vol.12 No.1 – March 2018) is now available online for public access. (INCU members have been able to access this edition in the members-only area of our website since its release).
This issue of the World Customs Journal contains papers that address a range of topics such as trade data availability and use, single window implementation and interagency coordination, national trade facilitation committees, and customs valuation. Geoff Bowering in his paper explores the question of whether the availability of trade and logistics data, and the ability of customs authorities to access it, means that the import declaration may no longer be required. Frank Altemöller’s paper examines how the changing international trade relations impact on public administration and Feiyi Wang examines Korea’s practice on interagency coordination in the implementation of single window. Widdowson et al examine aspects relating to implementation of national committees on trade facilitation and Erkan Erturk analyses a question of determining the customs value of intangible assets. Practitioner contributions include an article by Mirosława Laszuk on rules of obtaining binding tariff information in the EU and Hara Strati’s paper on Post-clearance amendment of customs declarations and repayment of customs duties and VAT under the EU law.
The journal also has a Special Report on WCO announcement about the 2018 Edition of the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards to Security and Facilitate Global Trade (SAFE Framework).
