From 21 August to 8 September 2017, INCU Secretariat Office and Centre for Customs and Excise Studies (CCES) Charles Sturt University were visited by an INCU Member, Ms Federica Briganti from Bologna, Italy.
Ms Briganti is a PhD student at the European School of Advanced Fiscal Studies (SEAST), University of Bologna. Her PhD thesis is about constructing a rational framework for European customs sanctions on the basis of the principles stemming from European legal order and European Court of Human Rights. Ms Briganti spent a total of 3 weeks at CCES office undertaking research on a comparative study regarding the Australian customs sanction system. Among other things, during her stay, Ms Briganti participated in a Research Roadshow seminar and interviewed officials from the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
