Professor David Widdowson represented the INCU at the 9th Session of the WCO Capacity Building Committee (CBC), which was held from 26 to 28 February 2018 at the WCO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The CBC meeting was attended by approximately 200 WCO Member administrations and representatives of stakeholder organisations.
The Secretary General, Dr. Kunio Mikuriya welcomed participants to the meeting and stressed the importance of the Committee’s work in enabling the informed application of WCO instruments and tools. Among other things, the Committee addressed the WCO Secretariat proposal to update the PICARD Standards and a new WCO training strategy.
During the CBC Session, Prof. Widdowson and other INCU Members also took part in the PICARD Advisory Group meeting that discussed proposed amendments to the WCO Guidelines on Recognition of University Customs Curriculum and review of the WCO Professional Standards, which were developed jointly with the INCU some 10 years ago.
