WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2018, jointly organised by the WCO and Customs and Tax Administration of Peru (SUNAT), with support from the Korea Customs Service (KCS) and the private sector, was held from 6 to 8 June 2018 in Lima, Peru.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Building a Reliable Digital Landscape to Boost Cross-Border Trade”, which aimed to make the business environment more secure using information technology (IT) and, in so doing, boost economic prosperity by Customs’ action and effort.
More than 600 delegates from over 75 countries from all around the world attended this 17th edition of the WCO IT Conference and witnessed the launch of WCO Academy.
INCU Member, Researcher of Shanghai Customs College, Dr. Tong Hua, who is currently CCF/China Operational Manager and Program Manager at the WCO Asia-Pacific Regional Office for Capacity Building participated in this conference. He was very proud to see that China Customs provided its exploration and best practices on the aspects of cross-border e-commerce supervision, the big data application on the Internet of Things for the global Customs.
Dr Tong Hua also participated in the launch of WCO Academy, a new WCO online learning platform, which took place in the sidelines of the conference, and he considers it will make a great contribution for the customs capacity building.
