The annual Global Trade and Development Week (GTDW) 2019 took place from 25 to 27 June 2019 in Shanghai, China. Some 150 organisations 250 delegates and 49 speakers attended the event to discuss critical issues in international trade.
INCU was represented by the Management Committee Member Mr Samuel Bautista, Media Operation Manager, Mr Jiayuan Yao, and INCU student interns Ms Tianhui Chen, Ms Jiachen Zhou and Ms Yitong Xian. Both Mr Bautista and Mr Yao participated in panel discussions and delivered presentations.
In the panel discussion on Technology & Future of Cross Border Trade that was held on day 2 of the conference, Mr Bautista spoke about paperless trade focusing on its impact on trade facilitation in Southeast Asia.
On the same day, in the panel discussion on Anti-Illicit Trade and Brand Protection, Mr Yao spoke about methods of countering counterfeit goods in small packages and challenges faced by Customs administrations using a case example of Qianjiang Customs.
As part of their attendance of the GTDW in Shanghai, Mr Bautista and Mr Yao also visited a long-standing INCU Institutional Member, Shanghai Customs College (SCC) where they met with staff of the International Exchange Department of SCC, took part in the SCC symposium and given a tour of the SCC campus.
