Delegation of Canadian Scholars Visit INCU Office

A group of academics from Canada, Dr Kelly Sundberg and Dr Jamie Ferrill visited the INCU office and the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies on 23 August 2019. A meeting was held to discuss cooperation between INCU and a newly established International Center for Migration and Border Security Studies to facilitate the development of educational and training programs on international migration and border security, forming a distinctive field of research and scholarship.

Dr Sundberg and Dr Ferrill, who are both former Canadian border security officers, talked about their past experiences in immigration and border management, pointed out the existing problems with border security and immigration around the world and put forward the idea to set up cross-disciplinary international curricula and cooperate on research activities in this field.

Associate Professor Greg Weppner, Mr Brent Juratowitch and Dr Mikhail Kashubsky attended the meeting on behalf of CCES and INCU. Both sides expressed their interest in future cooperation and are looking forward to further exploring ideas that were discussed.
