Biographical Info The Fiji National University (FNU) was established in 2010, unifying several renowned institutions with rich histories. These institutions included the School of Medicine (founded in 1885), the School of Nursing, the Fiji Institute of Technology, the Teachers College, the Fiji Agriculture College, the School of Catering, and the School of Maritime. Together, they formed a robust foundation for FNU, building on decades of specialized education and training across diverse fields. Today, FNU has evolved into a dual-sector university with over 30,000 students, offering both technical and vocational education and training (TVET) alongside higher education. The university now operates through five colleges and 2 centers offering courses in agriculture, business, humanity & education, medicine & nursing, and engineering & science. FNU is on the verge of a new milestone with the upcoming launch of the Pacific Centre of Excellence for Border Management and Security Studies. This centre will address critical regional needs in border management and national security. It currently offers certificate and diploma programs, with a bachelor’s degree program set to commence in 2025. As FNU continues to expand its academic offerings and regional impact, it remains committed to delivering quality education and meeting the evolving needs of Fiji and the Pacific.
