In Memoriam: Dr. Juha Hintsa

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Juha Hintsa on 6 September 2024 in Engelbert, Switzerland.

Dr. Hintsa was a distinguished figure in our field, known for his contributions to customs research and the development of the World Customs Organization’s Partnership in Customs Academic Research and Development (PICARD) Programme. Juha was one of the founding members of the International Network of Customs Universities (INCU) and an Editorial Board Member of the World Custom Journal. His expertise and dedication were also evident in his role as a member of the PICARD Advisory Board, where he played an instrumental role in shaping the future of PICARD Programme.

Dr. Hintsa has made a significant impact in the field of customs education and research and his loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working with him. On behalf of the INCU Management Committee and the World Customs Journal Editorial Board, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Juha’s family and friends during this difficult time.

He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will endure.
